So it seems that square offers a credit card that gives free processing fees as a reward for using it.
I applied and got approved. I've used it at the beginning of the year and racked up $600+ in free processing fees.
So I redeemed the points to use in April and only got $14 in free processing credit for one day.
I've processed over 10k in cards through square since the second half of April and haven't seen of that $600+ free credit fees applied to any of the fees
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I've put in multiple tickets and nobody has an answer. They keep saying they will escalate. I about to cancel this American express credit card

So I got an email today to call banking support. The lady I spoke with cleared up it up for me.
So I thought the rewards from the credit card were for $600 in free processing fees.
Apparently it's free processing fees for the first $600 processed through the reader. So the fees associated for that $600 dollar amount is free.
If that makes sense.

HI @Nurdtyme
So I can't help you personally with this, since I don't have that CC with Square. Do you happen to have a copy of the TOS agreement, possibly something hidden in there within the fine print. Maybe @Twpchair may have heard something on this?
Question for you if you don't mind answering, did this show up as an Inquiry on your personal credit report and is it being reported under personal or business credit if you happen to know and don't mind sharing? I'm bringing that up because if it is , it may just be more beneficial to throw that in the sock drawer and not use it vs. closing it depending on your DTI and how its being reported.

I have read it multiple times. I am going to be honest here. Depending on when he received the card seems to be most of the issues that are being stated. They don't do a traditional pull from your personal or business account. They use more of the same system as loans are offered based on your history and sales. It does state like loans they can do a pull that doesn't affect your score but generally, it's your prior history. Other users have experienced the same issues as stated along with bouncing limits and hard to get cash off of it. This tended to be early on. According to American Express and Square most users rate it in the upper 90% range. They are asking if anyone has or is experiencing any issues to please contact Square with a detailed description of the issue. Still might be a bug or 2 but most addressed it was fixed quickly. Some of the other issues with it were the vetting process. As a traditional or regular person applying due to creditworthiness might not be eligible they have been with Square. Again, this is being addressed as well. I would highly recommend that the user call and go over all his concerns about each item in question. Reading the disclosure from the beginning of the program was all I could find nothing current. It clearly stated that this could be changed, modified, or adjusted. As I read it and how my rewards work with my personal American Express, Chase, and Capital One. They are built up to the end of the billing cycle ends. The next cycle they are added to my points or rewards. This is similar in some ways but I couldn't determine what or when they determined to be the end date to roll over as they stated each case is different and varied. It's a good thing and a different way going forward but I would want to know when he received it. And I would want to double-check my agreement just like a loan. As they are all different. I wish it was clearly stated and one set of rules or standards but not that I could find. The article I found was on September 2024.
If I helped answer your question hit the best answer. Thank you!

I've had the card for several months and in the square website it shows a balance of free credits that I can redeem.
I decided to claim the free credit balance ($600+) in April and they (square) sent me a message that I have 1 year to use up those free credits.
One week after I clicked on the redeem button I started processing cards through my square reader. I did tap and chip. I got $14 in free credits on the first day but after that I haven't received any free credits after that.

Any other issues with the tap and pay that you noticed? I don’t know much about or why one way of taking a payment vs. the other would or should make a difference. If all payments are going through properly and hit your account, I would rule out a faulty unit. Another question I would have for them is the processing fee for the tap vs. a traditional register, stand, etc. If the tap and pay rates are higher (which I will look up), that could or might have an impact on your rewards. I think I would do as @Minion suggested and reach out to customer service, please let them know about the credit card issue right from the start. With this being so new, they can get you to the department and see if it's a bug or something to do with different rates of using different tools. I wish I could offer a clearer solution on this, and I will go and ask in that department now and see who the Mod is for here and see if they can add some info without going too much into personal info that you have to call then anyhow. Good luck, and hold tight; I am going to find someone!

I got this under business credit. Since the approved credit balance wasn't that high. I use for food expenses when traveling. I didn't read through the TOS.
I did receive a small amount of free processing credit the first day after redeemed the credits. After that day I haven't recieved any free credits.

Thank you for the information. You may need to reach out to the banking/loan department. I think that they would be able to answer those questions for you. and possibly see what is going on with your account. If it is a bug that is happening that will also be able to report it to the correct team to have them look into it.

Thanks for checking back in and letting us know what the outcome was. Yeah that makes sense, its similar to the offer when you refer someone to square you get xx amount of free processing, but its based on the dollar amount and not the fee amount.
